Well, as an owner of several physical synths you'll find that virtual synths have come A LONG way over the decades. Unless I'm going for a certain sound, but even that is subjective due to the power of virtual synths; I still prefer Serum, Pigments 5, or Diva for ease of use. A really good keybed is the key to any synth virtual or physical. I own the Roland Fantom 8 and it's keybed is gold standard... shhhhh, on its aftertouch. And I use my Fantom 8 to play all of my synths.
Pams, all the WMD modules are good, SSF, make noise, Noise engineering. Welcome to the cult. The doepfera-185-2 persition adder. The Michigan synth works SY0.5, Joranalouge conture 1. ES8 or 9. Nappy Nurding FX aid. That will get you started hahaz
Alice is in wonderland. Just follow the white rabbit and you'll be fine. I'd say: Pam's PRO workout, Basimlus Alia, Plonk, Maths and a Plaits clone. Sealegs for FX. Wogglebug for randomness, DXG low pass gate. And a cheap mixer/output module like the Behringer 305.
You need an old school sampler with nice filters. Find Yourself a Yamaha TX16W and get the Typhoon OS for it. Making sounds with that is will be an out of the Box experience for you. Find an Ensoniq ESQ-1 as well great Synth for the money.
You just opened a can of worms! Piston Honda. Maths (that's obligatory) as many VCAs as you can (you can never have too many) a complex envelope generator. Some effects. Some mults are always handy. Some LFOs (again you can never have too many) maybe some analog VCOs (after all you are outside the box and it would be a shame not too) a sequencer (because of course). And good luck with your new project. You will never be finished. You will probably eventually by a new rack. And you will have sleepless nights thinking about the next thingy to buy. It's called GAS btw, gear acquisition syndrome.
I just want to see you dance more, forget the flipping racks babes.ps thanks for your Push tutorials music is literally saving my life right now and gggaaaad damn making beats on the push (sequencer style) is so so good ,find it hard to not make House beats,it's so good for that
Idk, i just watched a video where a very known producer is selling all his racks and gear, as soft synths actually do a better job of creating sounds, because it can edit the wave on a scale far smaller than analog synth, and you dont have to start over for a new sound. Its def a fun hobby im sure, but does it have anything i cant create with software nah

Maths. And any of the mutable instruments modules like beads, plaits, marbles. Also Morphagene by make noise too 😊 I love Squid Salmple, it’s an amazing sampler module. Pamela’s pro workout is the best ‘clock’ ever it’s so versatile. Tempi is a fun and quirky alternative to a clock source.. really depends on how you think and what you want out of it,, that’s the beauty of eurorack! Looking forward to seeing it all evolve over time 😊

Noise Engineering: Clep Diaz and Divkid: 0chd + expander. You'll get lots of modulation in just 12hp. Don't avoid utility modules like switches - they're very important. Something like the Doepfer A-151. Good luck with your rack journey.
I suppose it all depends on what you want from your eurorack system🤷🏻 classic east coast synth sounds (like moog, arp, etc), west coast sounds (experimental, like Buchla or serge)!
I started off the same as you…. My gateway synth was the doepfer dark energy….. so that was effectively my first eurorack sound source/ synth voice ! I then bought a 6U doepfer case to expand the dark energy….. my first modules were the make noise function & wogglebug…. Followed soon after my the make noise maths! The maths is a ‘Swiss army knife’ module capable of so many different things!
So, basically if you’re starting off with just an empty case/ rack…. You’ll need a sound source/ synth voice…. The doepfer A-111-6 mini voice is a great place to start, fairly cheap….. then there’s the doepfer A-111-5, basically the eurorack version of the dark energy…. It has a VCO, filter, adsr envelope, 2 lfos and a VCA….. I would recommend getting a good, line level 1/4” output module too…. Like the intellijel ‘outs’ module so it’s easier to connect to your recording interface/ PAs etc….

Clouds - mutable instruments

I'm gonna get hate for this but idc, I'd reccomend all the behringer modules the price is on point and you can get big bang for the buck

Modular is the path to nowhere

Maths, marble, benjiolin, europi, ears, euclidian sequencer, squid sampler,
You look like James Hatfield from Metallica
Who made the musical grid ?
I would see if they make any modules
Also check if they have any friends or sisters

🎉🎉🎉 awesome
Congratulations on getting eurorack.
Here is a recommendation. Don't go down this rabbit hole. I did, and now my kids go to school shoeless 😅.

Cool 👍💐👑💃
Maths
Tiptop and buchla are good too
Bleeps and blops - I spent 1000s on this stuff maybe 10k sold the lot and bought old rack samplers instead never been happier
