I’m 38 and my playlist is and has always been primarily 90s and early 2000s songs that were     See More ist of my upbringing and teen years and early adult life, but I do still keep up with the new artists of today and some are more talented than the majority would give them credit for. Yes - there is some trash - which is heavily circulated thanks to social media, but something that also plays a part is that we have way more independent artists nowadays who are really good but they don’t have the budget to market to a large scale - and then there are those who are signed to majors but these labels aren’t putting as big marketing dollars behind some of the most worthy talent. There’s so many factors involved. But all in all, not everything sucks. People just gotta be open to not only the music that reaches them, but to the music they could come across by sampling what else is out there.    See Less

I swore then that I wouldn't end up being one of those guys. For the most part, I've held to that. I listen widely to music, by artists are popular and to artists that are not popular as well as genres that I liked as a young man as well as to genres that didn't exist when I was young. There is no more "trash" music today than there was back in my young days. Unfortunately, poor quality music can become popular and exceptional quality music can be overlooked by most people. Taste is hugely subjective. However, I LOVE the fact that artists can today release music without the majority of the traditional recording label baggage and reach a wide audience. That is definitely better for both artists and audiences (at least from the perspective of being able to reach an audience).    See Less
